Biography
Mr. Poon is a Director of the Family Office Division, where he oversees strategic planning and leads the investment research function. He has more than a decade of experience in investment and financial research, including at a single-family office, where he was responsible for equity research, trading strategies and technology management. He has developed proprietary quantitative models and portfolio optimization tools to identify investment opportunities in Hong Kong and Mainland China.
Before joining the single-family office, Mr. Poon held a senior position at a private equity investment firm, focusing on the alternative energy sector.
Mr. Poon is a CFA and CAIA charterholder. He graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Engineering in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management with First Class Honours, as well as an Integrated Bachelor of Business Administration (IBBA).
In addition to his industry role, Mr. Poon is an Executive Director of CFA Society Hong Kong. He serves as Co-Chair of its University Outreach Committee, where he organizes international competitions and seminars and mentors university students in equity research. He also leads the family office pillar under the Continuing Education Committee.
Mr. Poon also serves as an adviser and member of the Governance Committee of the Fund Management Committee at the Hong Kong Baptist University School of Business, helping to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Accountancy, Economics and Finance at Hong Kong Baptist University.
